Day-by-day Itinerary
- Day 1:
- Arrive in Kunming. We fly to Kunming and connect flight to Zhongdian. On arrival, we meet our local guide and transfer to the hotel. We have a welcome dinner tonight.
- Day 2:

Kunming to Zhongdian: We join the morning praying in Songzanlin Monastery. Afterwards, we visit Napa Lake. Afternoon is spent in Shangri-La Botanical Garden. This evening, it is optional for you to join a square dance in the Old Town.
- Day 3:
- Zhongdian to Deqin: We drive from Zhongdian to Deqin this morning. Lunch is arranged at the local restaurant at Benzilan. Afterwards, we visit the Dongzhulin Monastery and continue our drive to Deqin. Arrive in Deqin in late afternoon with several photo stops along the way.
- Day 4:
- Hike to Campsite: We get up early in the morning and take pictures of the sunrise at the Meili Snow Mountain. After breakfast, we drive about 2 hours to the trail head Sinong Village. From here we hike for 8 hours to the camp site or 4 hours for horseback riding. Picnic lunch arranged en route. We arrive at campsite in late afternoon and rest.
- Day 5:
- Sinong Glacier: This morning, we hike for 30minutes to the see the Sinong Glacier in very close distance. After lunch at the campsite, we hike for another 2 hours to the higher mountain and take pictures.
- Day 6:
- Trail Ends: After breakfast at the campsite, we hike back down to Sinong Village for 4 or 5 hours. We have a late lunch at Sinong Village, and if lucky, we could try the family homemade honey. After lunch we walk around in the village on our own. Later this afternoon we drive about 2 and half hours to Deqin.
- Day 7:
- Deqin to Zhongdian: This morning we transfer back to Benzilan, where we have our lunch. En route visit the Nixi local pottery making village. We return to Zhongdian in late afternoon.
- Day 8:
- Zhongdian to Kunming: This morning, we drive to the airport and take flight to Kunming. Trip ends.
