Day-by-day Itinerary
Day 1:
Arrive in Guiyang: Upon arrival, we meet our local guide at the airport and transfer to the hotel.  After checking in and refreshing in hotel, we enjoy a dinner in a local restaurant in town features Guizhou cuisine.
Day 2:
Old Han Village: Today's program highlights the amazingly well-preserved culture of the old Han (Chinese) ethnic group. The ancestors of these villagers migrated from Jiangxi Province to Guizhou Province in the Ming Dynasty for military reasons, and they still keep much of the traditions from 600 years ago. We drive for 1.5 hours to Jichang village.  Before lunch at the village, we will watch a local opera performance, famed for the performers' symbolic masks.  Later we will take a leisure walk to explore this typical old Han village. We drive back to Guiyang late in the afternoon.
Day 3:
Guiyang to Xiaba Village: Today’s program starts with an excursion to explore the villages around Xiaba.  After lunch, we spend the afternoon taking a moderate hike through the Damochong Valley, an area of quaint villages, dense bamboo groves, and clear streams.  We will step in a papermaking mill among the family workshops and learn traditional paper making skills from skillful workers. Afterwards, we head to a local Miao ethnic minority village.  We have dinner with a local Miao family, and have the opportunity to learn about their life in Xiaba over a traditional meal cooked by the people themselves.
Day 4:
Dazhai Village to Kaili:  In the morning, we explore Dazhai Village, an enchanting maze of old wooden houses amongst green paddy fields.  Then take a 3-hour moderate hike through this area of quaint mountain villages.  After lunch, we drive 3 hours to Kaili, the capital of the Miao and Dong minority autonomous region.  We will rest for the remaining day before dinner featuring local cuisine.
Day 5:
Kaili-Yedonghe river -Kaili: We head to the center place of shinny cloth Miao at Shidong area, and spend some time hiking between a river and terraced rice-paddy fields, while passing through a few villages on the way. We stop in one village to learn the silver-ornament hand making secrets in a local Miao family,  and return to Kaili in the late afternoon.  Tonight’s dinner will a typical Miao food- the sour-soup fish.
Day 6:
Kaili-Chong’an- Wangba Gejia Minority Village: This morning, we first take a boat ride from Kaili to Chong’an.  Along the way, we can see the local mill house that built along the river.  After lunch, we drive to Wangba Village, where we have a chance to visit one major tribe of the Miao - the Gejia people - and learn more about their unique culture and history.
Day 7:
Kaili-Wuli-Xijiang- Datang-Paika: After breakfast, we drive to Wuli village, where we start our 3.5 hiking to Xijiang.  You may feel as though you are idling along a corridor of landscape paintings of limestone pinnacles set against terraced rice fields and picturesque villages.  We have lunch in Xijiang.  Afterwards, we drive to Datang.  Inhabited by Short-Skirt Miao, people in Datang village is a subgroup of Miao ethnic minority group.  Datang is well known for its beautiful dancing and singing performances.  Local villagers welcome our group with the same hospitality they have shown to their VIP guests.  Stopping at Paika Village along the way, we can see how the Lusheng - the Miao people's most important musical instrument - is made. 
Day 8:
Fly back home: This morning we check out and drive to the Guiyang airport for our flight home. Trip ends.
