With the mysterious Karst landscape and mosaic of nationalities, Guilin and Yangshuo always lures travelers around the world. Our trip starts with two days of trekking through rice terraces and bamboo covered mountains. This part of the country is not particularly suitable for agriculture, and so the Zhuang and Yao people that settled here had to meticulously carve their fields from the sides of the mountain. The result is stunning to behold, especially when the paddies are submerged and sparkle under the sun. During the trek, we share our morning and evening meals with our Zhuang and Yao ethnic group hosts in their homes. After three days on the trail, we drive to Yangshuo, and then enjoy the world-famous karst landscape of the Li River on a boat trip back to Guilin.

Day-by-day Itinerary

Day 1:

Guilin, arriving in Guilin in the afternoon or early evening, the rest of the day is free to explore the city or take a leisurely stroll along the Li River.

Day 2:

Guilin to Longsheng, we drive 2.5 hours this morning to Longsheng County, where our hike will begin. The trail traverses terraced slopes and bamboo forests and connects several Zhuang and Miao minority villages in the area. The hike ends in Old House Village, where we overnight with a local family and experience their generous hospitality.

Day 3:

Old House to Tiantao Village, continue our hike to Tiantao Village, we pass some remote villages therefore we can experience the other side of China. Looking out over the terraced landscape, it is hard to imagine how long it took to carve the mountains into the beautiful scene unfolding around us.

Day 4:

Ping’an, Today, we finish the last portion of our hike and end in Ping'an Village. The village is nestled high on the mountain slope, and overlooks a breathtaking view of a wide expanse of carefully carved fields. After three long days on the trail, the comforts of Ping'an are well deserved. In the evening, we can enjoy the sunset from an outdoor patio overlooking the valley.

Day 5:

Longsheng to Yangshuo, After a leisurely breakfast in Ping'an, we head to Yangshuo for the Li River walking. Walking along the river, we enjoy the unfold scroll view of classic China. After lunch, we study rock climbing with our experts. Drive to Yangshuo.

Day 6:

Yangshuo, we spend the whole morning with bamboo rafting on Yulong River. Bike the Moon Hill and surroundings after lunch. Free time to explore the West Street after dinner.

Day 7:

Yangshuo to Guilin, we drive back to Guilin for our flight home. Trip ends.
