Happy Year of Ox!

Obviously, the World is celebrating the Year of Ox with greater enthusiasm in this economic recession period, as Ox in Chinese culture means prosperity.

  • Ox & Tiger
  • But sometimes, Ox is also recognized as symbols of courage. In 1972, an archaeological discovery in Jiangchuan, Yunnan Province, unearthed a number of unique bronze wares, and one of them is a sculpture of ox and tiger, which would have been used to hold the sacrifice at religious rituals. What is significant is the design of this bronze utensil. As you can see, the mother ox is trying her best to protect her child, the calf, from being hurt by the tiger. When we are amazed at the visual aesthetic pleasure demonstrated by this sculpture, we can’t help admiring the courage shown by the mother ox. Our ancestors survived numerous natural disasters with the same kind of courage, and we certainly can get through any difficulty in this economically challenging era.

Good luck to everyone! And good luck to us!
